- Bactrocare Cream (10g) is a targeted topical antibiotic that effectively treats various primary and secondary bacterial skin infections.It works by disrupting the internal machinery of bacteria, leading to their death and clearing the infection.
- The active ingredient, Mupirocin (2% w/w), has a unique chemical structure derived from the bacterium Pseudomonas fluorescens.
- Targeted Inhibition: It binds specifically to the enzyme isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase within the bacterial cell.
- Stopping Protein Synthesis: By blocking this enzyme, it prevents the bacteria from using the amino acid isoleucine to build essential proteins.
- Result: This halts bacterial growth (bacteriostatic) at low levels and kills the bacteria (bactericidal) at the higher concentrations achieved when applied to the skin.
